|We all drove north from Launceston along the west side of the Tamar River, as far as Green Beach.
David and Ann spent time going into a few bays and the Swiss Village, which they enjoyed.
Noel and I called into Beauty Point and went to the Platypus and Echidna House, we haven’t been able to see a Platypus in the wild so took this opportunity to get a photo, and learn a bit more. We have seen quite a few Echidna’s in the wild as it is breading season and they are out and about, but was good to see them close up and get a photo. On to seahorse world, these are fascinating little creatures.
We then called into the Beaconsfield heritage centre and gold mine, one floor was devoted to the saving of Tod Russell and Brant Webb. Also a memorial for Larry Knight who died in the mine collapse. They still mine for gold there, using new methods. Was very interesting.
Last stop was Grindelwald a Swiss Village. There is a large Resort and a lot of small chalets to stay in. The Village and grounds are open for everyone to wander around. Very pretty to see.
