We love this time of year when the trees are glowing like fire. I tried to capture the beauty of the trees along the Truckee River while driving to a Nevada Festival in Fallon, Nevada. Fall color comes to Reno / Tahoe foliage starting toward the end of September and peaks through October. We did get an early snow but it didn’t seem to do too much harm to the leaves, they are glowing all over Nevada.
There are so many fall festivals all over Nevada, we chose to visit the Lattin Family Farm Festival today. The Lattin family has been farming since the 1860s. We were impressed with all the action at the farm, there is truly something there for everyone. You can pick your own pumpkins from the patch as well as lots of organic produce, I even saw pink pumpkins and pumpkins on a stick.
There are hayrides, a cool corn maze, a scarecrow factory, a pumpkin tower, cow train rides and much more. My personal favorite was the Pumpkin Tower where locals and volunteers carved over 200 pumpkins all lit up at night.
We enjoyed shopping at all the booths and watching the kids feeding the goats and riding the cow train and more. Their fall festival runs from the last weekend in September through October. We had a great time, whether you are looking for locally produced food, an opportunity to learn more about agriculture or a fun family activity for the day, Lattin Farms is the place to be. I took a lot of pictures of their beautiful displays and hope you enjoy. We highly recommend this farm to our readers. You can even order baskets of fresh foods online. Check back later for more from Nevada.
A special welcome to all our new readers and Happy Halloween to all!
