From the Amazon Jungle to the African Plains travel blog

Praia da Lua beach in Manaus

Finally, after about a day and a half of travel, we were able to start enjoying our adventure. The afternoon was spent on a beach next to the Rio Negro (Black River), one of the 2 major rivers forming the Rio Amazonas. We all spent ages swimming and playing in the crazy dark brown, almost black water, which was probably about 30 degrees, and sipping a couple of cervezas in the sun.

Manaus was busy and bustling, with loads of hawkers and street sellers. The town is very rundown, and was a real eye opener for Hanna & Tristan

Looking forward to heading to the jungle tomorrow morning
