We're taking a year off to travel! travel blog

We spent some time getting to know our host, a great guy. This is his first gig, but he is learning fast and appears to be a natural. He lives nearby in town.

One thing on Don's to-do list was to replace the seal on our big slide. No leaks yet, but it sort of disintegrated after he sprayed on some "seal conditioner" before we sat in the sun in Pagosa. Our host told us there was a Camping World in town so we thought we set. Wrong! We got an estimate of approximately $600 dollars to replace the seal. This included buying the entire roll of seal (not just the 10 feet we needed!) and 3-4 hours of labor. There was a truck and trailer place just down the road, an obvious next choice for an estimate. We got an approximate estimate of $200 and told him to go ahead and order the part (just the 10 feet we needed) and settled back to wait. When we told our host, we found out that he is friends with the guy (Mike) and said we did good to go to him.

That afternoon we went for a walk, on the pavement, down past the dam and back, approximately 2 1/4 miles.
