Our final walk was 14kms from Montelcino.
We passed through some stunning areas. Some forests, where mountain bikers ride, encountering a fork in the oath that caused some concern about which direction to tak - see photo. Only one up hill mistake today.
We walked on unsealed roads called white roads. These can vary between reasonable to challenging with larger rocks. Thank goodness we had our snazzy walking poles.
Lots of wild flowers and berries seen on the pathside.
Some steep climbs, and steep descents.
Even a tiny snake on the road.
Toward the end of our walk we came across a Roman church, only about 1200 years, and still standing strong.
Our walk was celebrated with a lunch outside, cheese pici pasta. So yum, all washed down with some house chianti.
A small Mercedes bus drove us to Orvieto. A big city perched on top of a hill. It is pretty close to Rome.
Enjoy the pics,
Love
