We were up early this morning having a bite of breakfast and our usual coffee. We left the RV right at 8:00 AM for the drive to Quincy, Illinois to watch Colby play football. He plays for the Hannibal 4th grade football team this year and they were playing a 4th grade team from Quincy on the Quincy home field.
Quincy had the ball first and scored on the very first play of the game. After missing the extra point they had a 6 point lead. Hannibal advanced the ball past mid-field but then stalled out and Quincy took over. Once again they scored on the first play which was a sweep around the right side. This time they made the extra point and now led 13 – 0.
It appeared that this game might be a rout but Hannibal then put up a stiff defense and I don’t believe that Quincy had another first down for the remainder of the game.
Just before the end of the first half, Hannibal scored a touchdown and made the extra point so the score was now 13 – 7 in favor of Quincy.
The second half was a defensive battle but Hannibal fought their way down the field and scored with about three minutes remaining in the game. The score of 14 -13 in favor of Hannibal held to the end of the game. Colby and his team-mates played a fine game and now we look forward to next Saturday when they play Winfield.
So, you may ask, what does this have to do with the RV life? Well, when you are a grandparent who spends months away from your grandkids, it is special to have the time to attend ball games and watch them excel in their chosen activities.
Life is Good!
