A good start to our last day

Chilling in Old Town while the girls shop

Wednesday in Fort Collins, CO, was cool and crisp, but perfect weather for a little hike after breakfast made by Jim. We drove to Horsetooth Mountain Park just west of the city and chose to take the 1.2 mile hike up to the Falls. Took just a bit to get used to the higher elevation, but we made it. We were rewarded for our efforts with a dry Falls. Bummer. Still a nice walk. We returned to our car after the return 1.2 miles in 55 minutes. After returning to Ft. Collins, we drove around the Colorado State University campus. Very nice. Got back to the house, relaxed, showered, and headed to New Belgium Brewery for their 1-1/2 hour tour with samples. Yum! Jim was quite happy. Even sorta enjoyed the sour beer. Our first try. We then headed to Odell's Brewery. Jim enjoyed their IPA while Sue tried a small sample of their Octoberfest. Not impressed. Three of us were beered out, so we ended up on the patio at Lucky Joe's in Old Town so Barb and Sue could get a glass of wine (or 2?). Then we met Stacey and Josh at Austin's for dinner. I believe everyone enjoyed their meal. All 6 of us came back to the house for an after dinner drink on the back deck. Eventually the night had to end and Stacey and Josh returned to their place. This morning saw another beautiful day unfolding, so we enjoyed breakfast at Silver Grill Cafe in Old Town, the oldest restaurant in northern Colorado. Stuffed, Barb and Sue did a little shopping, while Steve and Jim wandered around, sat by the water pop-ups and watched the little kids get wet. We returned to the house early afternoon. Steve and Barb will take the van, pick up Stacey and head down to Denver to meet Keith and Liz for dinner at their favorite Italian restaurant. Jim and Sue will be hitting Equinox Brewery and other places in town for libations, food, and people watching. Interesting folks here in Ft. Collins. Sadly this is our last night here. Early tomorrow morning, Jim, Sue and Steve will be driving to Kansas City (almost 700 miles), while Barb will be staying on a few more days to visit with her daughter, Stacey. We'll finish the drive home on Saturday, wrapping up 18 days on the road!!! It's been a great experience seeing another part of the country, seeing old friends, and spending time with each other. I do think we're all looking forward to sleeping in our own beds. But we'll be dreaming about the next trip......
