The Pool Cabanas

Another beautiful day!

We got up and went down to the pool to reserve a cabana at 7:30. We stayed there relaxing until 9:00, when we went to the breakfast buffet at Bayside restaurant. Then we returned to the cabana to read and relax. The cabana was enclosed, which blocked any breeze, but kept the sun out. We went into the pool, which was quite warm. Jean used a raft to float for awhile. Just a relaxing morning. We really did not have much time on the OAT trip to relax and swim.

About 11:00, we went over to the Bajan Craft Market to look at the products. There were about 10 tables with jewelry, paintings, and other crafts. Jean found an unusual jewelry necklace, but the price was too much for her. We returned to the cabana without pumping up the local economy.

Jean did not get much sleep last night, so she retuned to the room about 11:45. I stayed until 12:15, because I was going to get a hot dog from Doggies. However, it was not set up today. There was a Bajan cooking class instead.

I returned to the room and showered to feel better. Luckily, they had finished cleaning the room, so we could relax in the room for the rest of the day. We ordered room service. I got a club sandwich and Jean had a jerk chicken wrap.

We just relaxed, read, watched another Harry Potter movie (HP & the Goblet of Fire), and napped until dinner. At 5:45 we got ready for dinner. Tonight we had a 6:00 reservation at Butch's Chophouse. This is a new restaurant at Sandals, so we wanted to be sure to try it. Butch's is a steakhouse, and like a steakhouse, everything is ordered individually to your taste. They serve cuts of Black Angus and Wagyu steers among other choices of chicken and seafood.

We were the first ones seated. We both tried the signature cocktail. For our appetizers, Jean had the Shrimp Cocktail, and I had Oysters Rockefeller. The oysters were a little different in the recipe, but still delicious. For our entrees, Jean ordered the Wagyu Boston Cut Strip-loin Steak, and I ordered the Classic Angus New York Strip Steak. We both ordered the Cabernet Reduction as our sauce for our steaks. And, we shared three sides: sautéed mushrooms and leeks, steamed asparagus, and green beans with pancetta, pepper flakes & pine nuts. We both thoroughly enjoyed the meal.

Jean wanted another crêpe like last night, so only I had dessert. I ordered the carrot cake with candied run raisin and walnut relish, and vanilla sauce. Yum!

We walked over to the Merry Monkey Pub. Jean wanted to get some lemon for her iced tea in the room. They did not have any lemons, so she took limes instead. She also asked for a little bit of Peach Schnapps to use with the left over champagne from last night. While we were at the pub, there was no one playing pool, so we played a game before heading over to get the crepe. (I was trying to stall returning to the room to give time for turndown service.)

Once at Café du Paris, Jean ordered a sugar crêpe with pecans to take back to the room. We returned about 8:30, but alas, no turndown service. So we went on the balcony so Jean could have her crêpe with a glass of peach champagne, and I joined her with two peanut butter cookies. The champagne tasted good with the Peach Schnapps. And being on the balcony in the evening is cool & relaxing, sitting and listening to the waves of the Caribbean Sea.

I asked Jean if she wanted to play cards when the doorbell rang. It was the maid to do turndown service, so we played our game of cards on the balcony while she set the room. I won the game, then we came back into the room to relax, read and watch TV.
