Ed & Marilyn 'The Happy Wanderers' travel blog

It was nearly 11:00 PM when I returned home last night. I had been to the Fair in Palmyra to watch my grandson Colby race. He has been driving a 4-wheeler since he was 2 years old and has been racing with competition since he was 4 years old. He is very good at this sport. Last night his 4-wheeler stalled out at the starting line and as a result of that he was last in the group of five racers. However, he didn’t allow that to bother him and by the end of the first lap he was in 3rd place. It was a great race with the top three competitors vying for 1st. In the last turn of the final lap Colby took the inside and moved to second place. It was a photo finish at the end but he was edged out by the leader and finished with a large trophy for second place. We are very proud of him.

He also plays football and this year he will be playing for Hannibal 4th grade because his class in Palmyra didn’t have enough players to field a team. It will be interesting to see how he does with players from this much larger school.

Marilyn is getting better but is very careful as she moves slowly from one room to another. She still spends most of her time in her recliner with an ice pack on her knee.

I led two tours of Mark Twain Cave this morning. The first tour had 31 people and the second had 29. We all had a great time and I had lots of compliments after the tour ended.

I finished with the last chapter of my latest book project today. Now the editing must begin and that might take a while. We will see.
