Crossing Lake Baikal

Top of the mountain

Shamen Rock

Today involved a lot of travel.

First, we caught the bus from Irkutsk to Lake Baikal, a car-ferry over to Olkhon Island, then drove 38km on a dirt road.

This is the view as we crossed the lake. Although the air temperature was mid-20's, the water was somewhere between 4 and 8 degrees,

Behind our guesthouse is this series of Sharmen poles - they are very colourful.

This rock is only minutes from our guesthouse.

We explored for the whole afternoon, then buffet dinner with the other guests.
