Ed & Marilyn 'The Happy Wanderers' travel blog

Yesterday we enjoyed the company of Jennifer and the grandkids. It was Jennifer’s birthday so Marilyn & I came up with a plan. While I took our daughter out for lunch, Marilyn and the grandkids were making a peach cobbler for Jennifer, as a surprise.

I seldom have time with Jennifer where there is just the two of us and it was really nice to share lunch and a leisurely conversation with her. Marilyn & the grandkids had fun also, and when Jennifer and I returned, the aroma of freshly baked peach cobbler greeted us. We wasted no time in serving it up with ice cream on top. Delicious!

After Jennifer & the grandkids left for home, Marilyn & I picked up Denny & Jackie and drove to “El Nopal” Mexican restaurant in Palmyra, where we were joined by friends John & Julie for a nice dinner, a margarita, and easy conversation, including lots of laughter.

Speaking of John & Julie, our friends have decided to retire and sell their “Garth Mansion” located here in Hannibal, Missouri. They have this beautiful B&B sitting on 37 acres with three separate cottages and other outbuildings. If anyone you know is interested they should contact John & Julie at www.garthmansion.com for more information.

Today we had time to visit with Denny & Jackie for half an hour or so before I had to go to work as a tour guide while our friends prepared to leave for home. We sure enjoyed their time here and hated to see them leave.

I led two tours of Mark Twain Cave and then joined Marilyn back at our little rolling condo for a bite of lunch.

Yesterday and today were both very nice days and now we are ready to relax for the evening.

Life is Good!
