We left Yellowstone on Friday. In planning for this trip I mistakenly left an open night between our departure from Yellowstone and our reservation in Jackson. We had reservations at the Virginian RV Park for Saturday, but they had no openings for Friday night. The Virginian is the only RV park in Jackson and most of those in Grand Teton National Park were full. You can't spend the night in a parking lot in Jackson because it's against the law, so we decided to take a room at the Virginian Motor Lodge. It was a mid-60's vintage motel room with paneling on the walls, 2 twin beds and an early Holiday Inn desk set up, but it was clean. We were able to park Winnie in the parking lot just outside the room.
After getting settled in we decided it was finally warm enough to have a swim in the motel pool. While we were lounging in the sun, we met a granmom and here 2 grandkids from Georgia that were in the site next to ours in Yellowstone. Sue had talked to them in Yellowstone when she tried to give away some extra bananas we had from our shopping trip in Cody. They've been traveling all summer in her RV. We had dinner with them at a western themed restaurant (what else in Jackson) that served wild game - bison, elk, venison. They're off to another destination on Saturday.
On Saturday we were able to check into the RV park down the street from the motel. It's a nice park, but expensive because of its location. We've never paid $100/night before and only seen prices that high in the Florida Keys. YOLO. We'll be here for 6 nights and spending time in Grand Teton National Park. Stay tuned.
