Tonight I attended a regular Friday game night at the First Christian Church. It is one of the four area churches that take turns hosting these activities. There was one table for ‘42’ and three for double-12 Mexican Train. Alas, I was the highest scorer at my table.
The way the game is played here takes much longer and it is harder to get rid of all your dominoes. A player is allowed only one play at a time. If a person plays a double but cannot cover it, the next player must cover it, even if it is the next domino in line to be played in that person’s own slot. If that player can’t cover the double, he/she must put up a train and it goes to the third player, and so on, until someone can cover it. That can – and often did – mess me up.
The potluck meal was very good. There are some good cooks in the group.
