We headed down the road to Twin Falls. The Perrine Bridge crosses 500 feet over the Snake River Canyon into downtown Twin Falls. Us older folks will remember Evel Knievel's unsuccessful jump over this canyon in 1974. We were lucky enough to see 2 BASE jumpers parachute off the bridge while we were there.

While in Twin Falls we visited Shoshone Falls. At 212 feet the falls are higher than Niagara Falls. A beautiful rainbow greeted us.

Our GPS took us for a ride on what seemed like every farm road in Idaho to our next stop - Balanced Rock. This rock is 48 feet tall and weighs 40 tons. It balances on a pedestal only 3 feet by 17 inches. Don't want to be around when it loses its balance.

We then took a scenic byway to Boise. Once in Boise we explored the Old Idaho Penitentiary which operated from 1872 until 1973. There are several buildings that were destroyed by fire during a riot in 1973. It's a rather spooky place but the grounds are currently planted with many varieties of roses.

Boise is home to the State Capitol Building which was our next stop. Like most governments, no one was working this day.
