After an early 5am start we were on board the fast seajet ferry Champion 1 sailing to Naxos. I was looking forward to relaxing in sun and warm weather. 3 hours later we arrived to find it not as warm as I had hoped but the scenery made up for the cooler temperature. Waiting for us on the dock was our host John, who drove us out to his studio rooms. Mary and he have delightful rooms about 10 minutes from the town.

After changing and settling into our rooms, he kindly drove us back into town where we had a delicious lunch of a true Naxos salad. Even in Italy the vegetables did not taste as good as these. Naxos is known for its wonderful cheese and this did not disappoint.

After lunch we wandered around town to take in some of the sites until we eventually found our way to a bike rental where we hired 2 bikes to ride the 4km home. We stopped on the way back at a supermarket and bought some antipasto food for dinner. By 9 I was in bed, ready to sleep well and have a relaxing day tomorrow.
