Ed & Marilyn 'The Happy Wanderers' travel blog

Marilyn & I sat outdoors with our coffee this morning talking about our schedule for the day. About the time when the coffee was finished off, it was time for me to get in the shower and then dress for work as a tour guide at the Cave.

I have to admit that I was already feeling a bit stiff and sore from the walking involved with giving tours, and maybe a little bit from playing ball with Colby.

After two tours today, I returned home feeling a great need to relax in my recliner. Alas, that was not to be as I needed to change clothing and take Marilyn out for a bite to eat. We drove to the Chinese Buffet and enjoyed a tasty lunch. I think both of us were quite fully packed when we left to drive home.

We loaded a few things into the car for Jennifer & Steve and then drove to their home in Palmyra. We had a few minutes to visit with Jennifer and then she left so Colby and I went outdoors to play a quick game of hoops. He managed to beat me by a score of 5 – 4 and I felt even more of that “stiff & sore” feeling.

We loaded the grandkids into the car and drove off to Colby’s baseball practice. We sat on the bleachers watching and Steve joined us as he was on his way home from work.

It was after 6:30 when we headed for Hannibal but needed to stop at Walmart for a few items. As I was looking for a small AM/FM radio I looked up and saw two really good, long-time friends from Monroe City. Pat (Called P.A. by friends) and his lovely wife, Kay were standing there so we shared hugs and chatted for a while. We finally had to break up this happy reunion and head off to the RV but we shared hugs once again with these good people.

On the way back to the RV we noticed a missed call from John & Julie, suggesting that we stop by the Mansion for drinks. We gave them a call and took a raincheck on that. These too, are great friends and we look forward to seeing them on Sunday.

Marilyn & I sat together with a snack and made an effort to get a few remaining chores finished off before bedtime. Tomorrow is another day.
