Europe 2017 Cruise travel blog

I'm sorry to say I didn't get any pictures of the oil rigs in the North Sea; I was just too interested in enjoying the voyage. The trip from Southampton to Haugesund was two nights and a day and a half; we arrived around noon. The trip through the channel leading to the port was very scenic it was easy or understand why a pilot boarded our ship miles from the dock. Haugesund is a beautiful small town built on the herring trade. Our tour of the city and how herring built the city was canceled due to low sign-ups. Maybe we were the only ones who signed up. We choose to walk the downtown area with my cousin Tom and his wife Jackie. The Main Street is closed to traffic for 5-7 blocks for shopping and we did. Big shoppers that we are, we purchased pastries and coffee. Jackie may have purchased some additional items; I'm not telling. I regret to say I have no pictures because someone forgot to re-insert the memory card.

Leaving Haugesund, we took a different channel with barely exposed rocks on either side. I'm sure we had a pilot on board.
