Porto is the home of port wine. We got off of our tour bus next to a public park high above street level with shops under it. The river Douro runs through the city and was the the transportation connection to the vineyards The Portugese developed a special boat to haul wine down the river. They are now used to haul tourists. Our walk down to the river was down, down, down. The streets were lined with shops which slowed our progress. We ate lunch at a street cafe on the river. We have to fuel up for the walk back, UP HILL. We took breaks shopping for port wine and pastries. The park had many olive trees, providing us an opportunity to get a close up view.
