Atop the Basilica, looking towards the city

We began the day by searching for a nice place for petit dejeuner ( breakfast) near our apartment. We found a lovely place serving pastries, yogurt and cafe which hit the spot. With perfect weather in store, we proceeded to the tourist office to inquire about sites we were interested in and we bought the tickets for the 'hop on- hop off' bus. While we waited for the bus, we checked out one of the places recommended for taking a cooking class nearby. As we walked in, the aromas were heavenly, which furthered our desire to take a class . We booked a class for tomorrow ( Tuesday) for lunch. The class would be only the four of us and she was inquiring what we were most interested in so she could design the menu. With the price being good and a menu constructed just for us, we were set. We then headed for our hop on hop off bus. We secured wonderful seats on top with perfect views of the city. We saw most of the city with some highlights being the Painted Wall, the Basilica of Notre Dame Fourviere and the Roman Gardens. We hopped off at the Confluence and had a marvelous and relaxing lunch outside next to the river. We boarded the bus and rode to the the Basilica and spent time enjoying the views of the city from above then entered the Basilica and were inspired by it's beauty. We then headed back to the city on the bus and enjoyed a refreshing drink before heading to the funicular to take us to the Roman Gardens amphitheater. Afterwards we headed back down to town and stopped off at a store for some appetizers, a florist for some flowers to brighten our apartment, a boulangerie for some freshly baked bread and pastries and a wine store for some delicious french wine.. With a fun and full day under our belts, we walked back to the apartment where we enjoyed our wine and delicious food before playing a game of cards to end the night. What a perfect day. Great friends, outstanding weather, delicious food and wine and the beauty of Lyon all within a 11 hour period--CC
