I have sometimes mentioned that I rarely used an alarm clock because I have some weird ability to simply remind myself what time I need to wake in the morning and I will wake a few minutes before that time. However, since retirement I feared that this “secret power” must have faded away by now.
Yesterday we had planned to attend Mass this morning with our friends, Mike & Marian. Mass was scheduled for 6:00 AM and Mike had mentioned that they would pick us up at 5:25 this morning.
I pondered that for a while when I went off to bed around 10:00 last night and then set the alarm for 4:00 AM. I awoke at 3:30, started the coffee, showered, and dressed for church. Marilyn was dressed and ready so she joined me for coffee before we had to leave.
Mike & Marian were on time and drove up as we stood outdoors. We were off to Mass!
As soon as our friends dropped us off at home, we jumped into our car and drove to Walmart.
It was a bit after 9:30 when John & Lori, Denny & Jackie, and Marilyn & I were gathered at our place ready to head to Mexico for a fun time together.
We met Mike & Marian at the border and soon found all eight of us at Poncho’s Bar with a cold drink, some snacks, and live music. The conversation and laughter were constant and we were all enjoying ourselves.
Lunch at Arturo’s was next on our agenda, and then shopping as we strolled back toward the border.
It was around 3:30 when we arrived back home, tired but happy. What an enjoyable day we had, thanks to the good friends we shared so much fun and laughter with today.
