|We stopped a couple of times during the night. Quite a few passengers got off at Reno sometime after midnight. Apparently a popular place for snow & casinos.
We certainly saw a lot of snow today, it was everywhere. We passed through Salt Lake City in the morning & then we had hours of spectacular snow scenes as we climbed up & down through the mountains. Spent a lot of time in the observation car as you could see both sides of the track & the views were wonderful. Our pace was quite leisurely especially on the descents where we hardly went above 20mph good for the views but our arrival time revised back further to 2am Tuesday morning.
At least we got an extra dinner out of Amtrak & I had steak yet again. We know the menu off by heart as it is still identical to all the other trains we have been on. I did forgo the baked potato & just had salad with the steak. Not used to three meals a day.
Couldn't get much sense out of the trains conductor regarding what would happen once we got to Denver. Asked if we would be given an hotel or what but he didn't know & it wasn't till nearly midnight that we could get a phone signal to call Geo. We said not to come out for us at that time of the night but, bless him, he insisted saying it would be a bit of an adventure. We just felt so bad causing such problems.
