Hibiscus

Olawalu General Store est. 1932

Day 3: Lahaina & Beach Day.

We started the day by attending a "Vacation Club" presentation in order to get free tickets to snorkeling at Molokini and Turtle Arches. It wasn't too bad, no high pressure and the guy was funny. So after an hour, we got our free tickets!

Before the presentation, we had stopped at the Olawalu General Store, founded in 1932 and still like it was! They had the ever-present Hawaiian staples of SPAM and Boiled Peanuts. Out front there were some very pretty Hibiscus flowers!

After the presentation, we had a very nice lunch at a beachside restaurant named "Betty's" where we relaxed, ate and watched the waves and a surfing class attempting to sit/stand on the boards. Very funny!

A drive up the coast past Kaanapali and ending at Kapalua introduced Robin and Shaina to the other area of Maui. Then it was back down toward our condo where we stopped at Papalaua Beach for a quick dip. It was a beautiful beach but a bit rocky. So we moved on to Mai Poina 'Oe La'u State Beach which was nice and sandy. Robin and Shaina had a nice swim while I read my book.

Tonight is shopping night for sundries and some food for the next few days.

And another day in paradise ends!!
