|The steady sound of fireworks lulled us to sleep last night. LOL. That is a custom down here so close to Mexico. As in many different countries in the world, it is normal to celebrate the New Year with fireworks. I didn’t hear much of it as I was asleep by 10:00 or shortly after that. Marilyn said this morning that she tried to remain awake to see the ball drop in Times Square but didn’t make it.
We sat together outdoors sipping our coffee while soft music played over the outdoor speakers. The temperature hovered just under 70 degrees and it was overcast but very comfortable. The sun appeared later in the morning, the sky cleared and the humidity dropped to a very comfortable level. It was another beautiful day.
Marilyn & I identified several of the birds which seemed to take turns serenading us as they perched in the tree beside our patio.
The Mockingbird, Green Jay, Titmouse, and Kiskadee all sang cheerfully this morning.
We drove off around 10:00 to locate a new bulb for the outdoor spotlight which illuminates the olive tree, and then to pick up a few groceries. We also stopped at Foy’s Market to purchase a couple of steaks for dinner tonight.
I watched some football in the afternoon but it was just too nice outdoors for me to stay inside.
Marilyn & I sat outdoors together sipping a glass of wine as we watched a stream of RV’s arriving at the resort next to ours. It appears that Bentsen Palms is filling up.
Later, Marilyn fixed a nice salad and dessert to accompany the steaks while I put the steaks on the grill.
Our dinner was delicious but we couldn’t eat all of it so there are some great left-overs for tomorrow.
Life is Good!
