Plans Set In Jello
Dec 31, 2016
|We were up at 6:00 and looked forward to a fine day with a trip across the border to Mexico with friends, Steve & Cathy.
Back before retirement we often heard about plans being “set in stone”.
After retirement we often hear of our plans being set in Jello, because we have the total freedom to respond to any situation by simply changing our plans. When Steve called this morning explaining that Cathy was going to see a Doctor and they wouldn’t be going to Mexico, Marilyn & I simply looked at one another and decided to go out for breakfast.
The “huevos rancheros” at Diaz Diner are among my favorites so away we went.
The breakfast meal was delicious and we enjoyed the time we had together. We were surprised when we got up to leave and noticed the heavy fog and drizzle which greeted us as we left the restaurant.
We had to use the windshield wipers until we reached our home resort and there was no fog or rain at all when we drove through the entrance gate. The temperature was warm and we stood outdoors visiting with neighbors for about an hour.
Our friend Richard was outdoors enjoying the weather and doing some walking exercise so many of the people stopped to visit with him. That was really nice.
Marilyn & I had a fine day together, reading cards, answering the phone, reading messages, etc, as so many of our family and friends sent birthday greetings to me. Yep, I had another one of those birthdays today. I want to thank all of those good people who called or sent messages, wrote on my FB page, or dropped by today. There is no doubt about it. I am blessed to have such wonderful people in my life. I am thankful for every one of you.
This afternoon we watched the football games and ate goodies that Marilyn fixed.
Life is Good!
