After our escapades of the night before, we all ended up sleeping in this morning and were a bit later getting on the road than we expected. We stopped briefly at the Mundabrilla Roadhouse for fuel and, after reading the notification re the 1080 baits along the highway in the windows, we appreciate again how lucky we were to get Chilli back safely last night. She is very footsore, but otherwise seems OK.
About 5k before the border we were pulled over for a RBT and caravan break away safety check. The next brief stop was at the border. You don’t really need to stop coming from the WA side, but I needed to get the obligatory photo shot as well as say goodbye to WA. After just over 5 months I am actually quite sad to leave! Will just have to go back again soon!
As from Eucla, the highway runs quite close to the sea. Our first roadside stop tonight in SA is at the top of the cliffs overlooking the Great Australian Bight. Despite the fact we are sheltered behind a great pile of gravel, I just hope we aren’t blown off! Our other challenge is going to be adjusting to the 2½ hour time zone difference!
