GEESE AT OUR FRONT DOOR

As this is the first trip we have made in our new motor home, finding anything has turned out to be a long, drawn-out treasure hunt. Maybe we'll manage to settle on places to stash everything and spend less time searching, but it looks like it might take a while.

We have decided to spend the first few days being very leisurely in some of the Corps of Engineers campgrounds around Lake Ouachita. Tonight and tomorrow night, we are at Tompkins Bend, one of only three open this time of year. It is beautiful with a view of the lake from our front door, and we are surrounded by tall pines and hardwoods. Lots of birds around, but most of them seem to be hiding in the tops of those tall trees and are not condescending to come down to viewable height.

We did go for a long walk this afternoon, watched a DVD about great explorers (among which we most certainly are not!), read for a while, and just enjoyed being lazy. After our mad dash home from Glacier in late September, we're ready for a little lazy.

November 11, 2016

Still at the same place. Today we worked out to an exercise DVD that Sam brought along. Whew! It looked so easy when we watched it at home, but trying to do it along with the chirpy, young, fit instructor is quite another. But we have resolved to keep trying to do at least 20 or 30 minutes every day and walk some as well. It is so lovely to have such a beautiful place to walk in. We'd rather it were a trail instead of a paved road around the campground, but all the trees and the lake, the birds, an occasional fisherman in his boat make it fun.

This afternoon we're playing on computers and reading.
