One of the really neat things about retirement is that every day is like the weekends used to be. I can still remember from back in my “working” days, how I looked forward to the weekend. Often the Saturday was also a day of work but it was to work around the house, mowing the lawn, or completing those other chores which always seemed to be waiting for me.
Sunday however, was usually a day to relax. After attending Mass in the morning, the remainder of the day was mine! That was something I looked forward to all week long.
Now, in retirement, we get up every day with a choice. We can either do what we “have to do” or what we “want to do”.
The time change gave us an extra hour to play with and today we did what we “wanted to do”.
I drove over to a friend’s house to get my “Puppy Fix” and then returned home to find Marilyn waiting to start breakfast. Bacon and pancakes were soon ready and we shared a nice meal together.
Once that was finished off, Marilyn took her book and went outdoors to the patio. I cleaned the A/C filter in the coach house and then relaxed, alternating between my book and football on TV. There was even a short power nap in there somewhere.
It was a lazy, relaxing, sort of afternoon and I loved it.
Tonight we are continuing the “relaxing” mode.
Life is Good!
