Day is Done, Gone the Sun

I slept in, again. I'm liking retirement! Lol - anyway, once I was up and moving, I sat out on the balcony again and enjoyed the start of another beautiful day. Around 10am, we headed over to Sunset Beach as a KLM 747 was scheduled to land at 10:55. We sat out on the deck, and at about 10:45 I walked down to the beach with my cell phone to take a video while Steve stayed on the deck with the camera. 5 minutes before the plane was scheduled to land, the beach got really crowded with people, all wanting to take pictures of the plane. And then the 747 made the turn for its final approach and everybody had their cameras ready. I caught a good video and it is posted to my timeline on Facebook. Steve caught a couple shots - it looks like the plane is about a foot from the fence at the end of the runway! After it landed, I could feel the sand blowing - I can only imagine what it feels like to stand at the fence when one of them is taking off - scary crazy stuff! After the excitement, we ordered an early lunch - guacamole and chips for me, Buffalo Wings for Steve.

Then we decided to head over to the French side to the Loterie Farm. We got there about noon, and it wasn't really what we thought it would be. 25 euros per person to sit by the pool all day, and two different zip-lines for 40 and 60 euros each per person, plus a hike. We weren't in the mood for any of those things, so I took a few pictures and we left.

We came back to the resort, donned our bathing suits and headed to the bay. While there, we met a nice young couple from Scotland. We chatted with them about different things to do, restaurants to try, etc. They had just gotten engaged and were thinking about doing a destination wedding in Hawaii. After we chilled in the water for a while, we came back to the pool for an hour or so, and then showered and changed. Dinner tonight was at a new Thai restaurant called Avantika. It was a short walk from the resort - very tasty fare...I had Jumbo Shrimp Massaman Curry, and Steve had Traditional Beef Fried Rice. We will likely go back again.

I have a load of clothes at the laundry (free to resort guests!) and need to run back to get them into the dryer. Tomorrow is our day trip to Pinel and Tintamarre islands - we'll see if the snorkeling works for me this time!
