|Our friends John & Joyce arrived today for a one night layover as they make their way to Arizona for the winter. It was really great spending time with them again. You might remember that they are retired United Airline workers & they used to follow this trip journal when they were still worker bees. I believe the story goes that we are the reason they are now full timer's as they loved following our travels. We clearly remember meeting them at a Cracker Barrel in Phoenix, Arizona for about 4 hours our first time together. They had a small travel trailer & were what we call 'newbies'. I believe they are now on their 4th rig & are also on their 4th year of fulltime rv'ing. And we consider them some of our closest friends. Sometimes life is really different, don't you think!
They got in and set up and Larry headed over to pick them up. We wanted to share the Ward Charcoal Ovens with them before it got too late in the day. You have to travel about 7 miles down a dirt road to get to them & we also wanted to stop at a really odd, full trading post. We thought John would really enjoy some of the old 'junkers' and I hoped Joyce might pick up a post card or two. Did I mention she has an online business selling antique postcards? Yep, she's got some really cool ones & subsidizes their income with them. Pretty cool!
We enjoyed the ovens before moving on to the trading post. Unfortunately, the owner was just pulling out when we arrived & we chose to not have her re-open for us. She gave us permission to browse around the property as much as we liked so we did! After that we headed back into town for dinner at Margarita's, the Mexican restaurant inside the Prospector Hotel where they were camped. Very good! Afterward we headed to the house to visit Mom & Lori & enjoy a piece of the German Chocolate cake I made earlier in the day. All too soon it was time to take them back to their rig, as they had an early morning departure planned & s did my honey. He had plans to meet some family members for duck hunting/fishing over the weekend. First time he's made it for opening duck season in 11 years as we are not usually in this area this time of year. He was excited!
Well, more on that trip later. We leave Monday for Utah for Mom's back surgery Wednesday Morning. So, we'll see you on down the road soon! Thanks for stopping by...
