We are enjoying our time exploring Lake Tahoe. This update covers the beautiful town of Incline Village in Nevada. Nestled along the northern shores of Lake Tahoe, Incline Village is a paradise for adventurers, offering exhilarating activities the whole year through. The surrounding Sierra Nevada thrives in winter, drawing flocks of snow-lovers to Diamond Peak’s groomed runs and glade skiing. Glade skiing is alpine skiing through trees off-trail or on a defined woods trail. Glades are variously sought for their solitude, beauty, or caches of ungroomed powder. Woods also tend to hold better snow longer thanks to the shade and shelter trees provide. After reading about all of this, it makes me want to learn to ski. ;-)

We did not drive to Diamond Peak yet but are planning to our next visit. There are several scenic drives in the area we will be exploring soon.

Incline Village is one of the largest towns in Lake Tahoe and is the main town for the lake that is located on the Nevada side of the lake. A lot of locals stay at the beautiful Hyatt Regency Hotel in the area, it features a private beach and great views of the lake.

We also saw a cool nursery. High Sierra Gardens in Incline Village is not only a florist (specializing in weddings), but they have one of the most beautiful greenhouses and plant displays in the area. The nursery itself is built into the forest next to a creek, so while shopping for plants you will feel like you've stepped into a fairyland. I had the sun in my face with the camera, the few pictures I did manage to take do not do it justice.

The Village is home to large mansions (some belonging to several famous people) as well as some great hotels and restaurants. Incline Village is also the closest town to the Lake Tahoe State Park and Sand Harbor, some of the prettiest places on the lake. We are planning to visit them next. Check back later for more of our tour around beautiful Lake Tahoe.
