|Bruges to Valkenburg, Holland – 138 miles, total to date = 380 miles
Another sunny morning as we made our way out of Bruges. We were off to a town called Valkenburg which is actually in a piece of Holland that sits between Belgium & Germany. It is a popular tourist town with a castle & caves.
We arrived at midday & boy was it hot. The site was very pretty up the side of the hill above the town. At the top of the hill is a tower & from there you could take the cable car down into town. They also had an impressive metal toboggan run going down the side of the hill with a towline to take you back to the top. There was also a zip line & a dry tubing slope but these weren’t in operation today.
We did venture down to the town on the cable car after lunch but it was still very hot & we kept in the shade of the streets as much as possible. Another pretty town with lots of tourists & hundreds of restaurants & cafés. We did succumb to having an ice cream sundae but decided that we have seen enough caves on our travels. The ruined castle also remained unvisited as it would have meant climbing back up the hill in the blazing sun. Nope, we chickened out & took the cable car back up when we returned to the camp site.
We spent a relaxing evening sitting outside our Motorhome enjoying the warm evening sunshine. A lovely spot.
