It was a short 10 mile drive from St. Ignace to TeePee Campground in Mackinaw City. We saved our tour of Colonial Michilimackinac (try saying that 3x fast!) for our return trip today. Located on the shore of the Straits of Mackinac, this 1700s fort and fur trading village was our best fort visit yet. We stepped back in time following costumed interpreters - had tea at the Officer’s house, watched both cannon and musket firing demonstrations, and explored the many artifacts from the ongoing archeological findings at the fort. After the tour, we revisited Darrows for more whitefish and homemade pie! Our evening was highlighted with a couple games of Joker right outside our RVs overlooking the beach and the “Mighty Mac”. What a beautiful setting! Tomorrow we begin our journey down the west coast of this great state.
