Headed to the Chatham Manor. During the Civil War this area included 1,300 acres and close to 24 outbuildings, including a dairy, ice house, stables, barns. On the river was a fish hatchery and elsewhere on the plantation, an orchard, mill and a race track.100's of slaves served here, we watch the movie and tour the house and grounds. The house went through several owners before being purchased by the NPS. Then we are off to downtown Fredericksburg and Sunken Road and Spotsylvania. Winning these battles opened supply lines for the Union troops.
