We have been in Montrose, Colorado for a week and have used it as a base to explore the area. While here, Art turned 64…only one more year before he becomes eligible for Medicare! After nine years, our truck mileage rolled over to 100,000 miles. Everything is getting older except for me, of course.
We took a drive to the south section of Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park which is only 15 miles from Montrose. This park is primarily a “driving” park – lots of pullouts and scenic overlooks. We were here back in 2010 and the views from the overlooks are still stunning. What do you think of this picture I took of Art in the park? I think he looks good in the uniform but, somehow, park ranger isn’t quite a job he or even I might enjoy. Can you picture him (and me) having to deal with hordes of screaming children? (Me neither)
Tomorrow we’ll leave for Grand Junction, Colorado. We hope the weather won’t be too warm to allow us to enjoy some of the hiking and biking in the area.
Stay tuned for more adventures on the Western Slope of Colorado.
