Trying but failing to beat the heat, we are up early and on the way to Santa Clara. After a quick city walk, we head to the Che Guevara Mausoleum. Che was a leader in the Cuban Revolution and was murdered in Bolivia in 1967. His remains were returned to Cuba in the 1980s when the monument was built. Then it was off to the Valley of Sugar Mills. Sugar came to Cuba in 1512 and was the main industry until the mid 1800s. We visited the Manaca Iznaga Plantation where some of the machinery can still be seen.
