Our bags were picked up by Phillipe our bus driver at 9.30 and he had the long journey in the bus by himself to Tours which took 6 hours.

We however had free time in the morning and could book out of hotel at noon. We then had to catch the fast train to Tours. We were bussed to the train station by a Scenic bus which was at Bordeaux at the time. Our train left at 2.20 but you are only told 10 minutes before the train leaves which platform you have to get onto. We had a train guide who was able to tell us beforehand and take us all to the platform. It really is a bit of a bun fight fighting your way to your train.

We all sat together for the 2hr train ride, and was picked up by Phillipe at 4pm when we arrived. We were then taken into the countryside for our next hotel - a Chateau accommodation. We were all exhausted, found our rooms and then had dinner in the hotel restaurant. I decided to just have the vegetarian starter as I didn't like the fish component. I was given a plate full of cut tomatoes around the edge with some lettuce leaves and cucumber slices in the middle. No salad dressing on it - nothing. That is the last time I go vegetarian. The Chateau was built onto the side of a limestone wall, and we had a room on the bottom floor which was in a limestone passageway. Very strange. Our room had no fridge, no welcoming electric kettle with tea and coffee, and no safe for our valuables. I went down thinking there would be a coffee machine to get a free coffee but no it had to be paid for. I also asked about the lack of a safe and they had one which was like in the bank. They had one key, and I was given another key and I had a little locked tray in their safe. Very old and not with the times. The staff at the hotel were not very welcoming and seemed to think they were very special compared to the weary travellers from downunder. I wouldn't recommend this place - also full of mosquitoes.

The next day we have to be up and ready for the next day at 8.30am
