The wind was blowing an absolute gale again this morning with dust everywhere. We had debated where we were going next last night - options being the loop to Tom Price open cut mine and Karijini National Park and back onto the highway further down the coast, or just follow the coast. We decided to stick to the coast for a couple of reasons, one because I would really like to see the ‘Staircase to the Moon’ phenomena that happens in this part of the world at full moon, which is next week, and two, because of the inability to have dogs in national parks. So Tom Price and Karijini will have to wait till next time. We also missed Marble Bar this time - the turn off is on the highway north of Port Hedland. Apparently it is a really pretty place to visit- so it is also on the list for next time!

Anyway, long story short, we made it about 100 ks out of Port Hedland this morning after fighting the wind while packing up and decided to try Coorinjinna Pool for an overnight stop. Well, after all the dust of the last week or so, the wind is still blowing, but we have refreshing green grass with river to look out on with no dust! There was rain in the Pilbara when we were in Broome- so I think this area must have gotten some of it. It is a really pretty spot, and if the wind dies down as it is meant too, we might end up staying another day. There is also miles of 4 wheel drive tracks to take the dogs for a run and believe it or not internet access!
