Pikes Peak in Background (14K')

Arrived this afternoon after leaving The Great Sand Dunes National Park. Had to cross over the Sangre de Cristo mountains through a pass that at its summit was near 10,000 feet. We did the pass early this morning when it was cool so that it would be easier on the motorhome. It is difficult to keep a rear engine diesel running cool on a hot day and especially going up a mountain highway.

We are staying at Pikes Peak RV Park which is at the base of the mountain and next door to Colorado Springs. It is hot and dry and the cottonwood trees are releasing their little cottonballs. The worry is that it will clog up the air conditioning units - ugh!

Visited the Garden of the Gods - pixs attached.
