Church outside bedroom window that chimed well into the night

Leanne and Dawn did a short exploration of Colmar whilst I tried unsuccessfully to book accommodation for tonight at the tourist office. So a much later start than usual. Loaded our panniers on the bike and I discovered I'd lost a screw holding the pannier attachments to the bag. Pretty serious! Leanne had a spare ockie strap so I strapped pannier onto the rack. A good temp measure until we find a bike shop (it's Sunday here!) Pleasant cycling through vineyards for most of the day with occasional detours into beautiful little villages. Passed many orchards with peaches, cherries apples and pears.

EuroVelo 5. Colmar , Bergheim, Kintzheim, Châtenois, Dambach-la-ville

Nice day for cycling. Overcast with only one storm (we were in a cafe!)

€8 for buffet breakfast at hotel

Morning tea

None as we didn't leave til after 11am. But did stop for afternoon tea and Leanne and Dawn shared a wonderful looking apple tart flambé. A regional delicacy. I had ball of raspberry Icecream and a tea. €5

Picnic along the vineyards route under a large cherry tree at a picnic table.

Was a little uncomfortable as there was a guy there practising throwing large knives into a stuffed human torso form that he'd strapped to a tree. He was weird !

Yummy meal at a restaurant in the village I had mussels cooked with Munster cheese. Frites and salad. Yum. Plus a glass of wine €21

We had lots of trouble finding accommodation when we arrived late afternoon (Sunday). I called all the chambres d'hotes and no one answered the phone except one... And she was travelling in Ireland. Eventually got rooms at the only hotel. €70 double incl breakfast

Weather held out !

Gorgeous villages

Nice cycling

Route well marked today

Missing screw from my pannier, holding on the attachments. SERIOUS!!!
