Feeding the Gulls

Bob and Roadie at City Pier

2016-04-19.Panama City Beach

Finding an RV park in this area is difficult; not because of the availability but because of the cost and other limitations. We tried to stay in several of the state parks and in the National Seashore but there were length limits or pets were not allowed or, there wasn’t a space for us. So, we tried private parks but, in this area, especially the Destin/Ft. Walton Beach area, the cost is outrageous. How does $136.00 per night sound for a campsite? Are you kidding me?

So, we are in Panama City Beach in a beautiful RV park (Panama City Beach RV Resort) that “only” cost $68.00 with a Good Sam Club discount. Spring Break is over so this place is dead but, there is only one beach that allows dogs on leashes and that one was so small that it wasn’t even worth it. The entire “Emerald Coast” of Florida is like that except for Carrabelle Beach which is on the “Nature Coast” section. Whatever...

At this RV park, however, there is a “detail” service and so, we are having the coach washed and waxed and they are throwing in a wash/wax of the truck too.

Tonight, we saw the International Space Station for about 7 minutes as it traveled across the sky from the northwest to southeast. It was so distinctive and brilliant even with an almost full moon lighting the sky. The local news broadcast alerted us to the timing of the flight and initially, we figured we wouldn’t see it because of cloud cover but, sure enough, there it was; an unmistakable sight!

Tomorrow...Gulf Shores Alabama and checking off #47 on our list of states.
