On the Road with Tom and Gloria travel blog

Stopped at the very small museum in Farmington, New Mexico in order to see an exhibit on Navajo blankets made in the early 1900's. Different patterns but the same main colors - red, black, cream. The entire collection ( 25-30) was a gift to the museum . Before this acquisition the museum only had one Navajo blanket on display. Couldn't take photos . Too bad. It was a delightful exhibit.

As I crossed into "colorful Colorado" I was greeted by gorgeous snow capped mountains. What a sight! I've done this route before - through Pagosa Springs, up to the summit of San Juan Mountain where Wolf Creek Ski Area is and then down to South Fork. Stopped in Ignacio thinking I was going to spend an hour or two at the Southern Ute Cultural Center and Museum only to find that it was closed until June. Should have checked the website.

Spending the night in Alamosa - close to the Great Sand Dunes National Park - tomorrow's destination.
