Stephen Shepherd's Elective 2004 travel blog

Newcastle's a little different to Barcelona. A tad colder for one thing. Anyway, am off to London tomorrow for "Stephen's Elective 2004" part 2: Great Ormond Street Hospital to do special care babbies and paediatric intensive care.

Having anticipated a long, hard slog of a summer - I mean, it's Great Ormond Street! - I emailed my supervisor somewhat tentatively to ask him what reading and stuff he thought I should do. His answer: Oh, don't worry about any of that! He is possibly the most laid back paediatrician I've ever met and I'm actually looking forward to this a whole lot...

I'm also staying in this really nice postgrad college in central London called Goodenough college. Avoid the jokes if you can... :-) Pictures are at www.goodenough.ac.uk - click on the logo. Anyway, today involves packing intensively, haircut and other mundane things.

I don't think we're in Canada any more Toto...
