A comfortable way to travel to Melbourne again 2016 travel blog

Patrol of Pelicans fishing ..all head down together

The free Wellington car ferry across the river Murray.....It was VERY HOT

Few over to Yoinghusband peniinsula sand dunes where we went on Sunday

We had enjoyed our time around Adelaide and the Fleurieu peninsula but the time had come to head east towards Melbourne. It was a long drive round the huge Lake of Alexander , crossing the river Murray by ferry at Wellington and then driving round to Meningie on the shores of Lake Albert a 210 km trip.

At one point only 22km from Meningie we were opposite Cattle point on the Younghusband peninsula sand dunes we had walked across on the Coorang cruise!

It was an interesting trip round with very baried scenery and bird life and the campsite right on the lakeside is lobely. As we arrived a patroll of n( group) of pelican were sailing past fishing. They swim close together to collect fish up and then all tip up beak down into the water together to catch the fish....quite a sight.
