Typical view of trees and buildings around Fremantle

After 7 days at sea crossing the Indian ocean in quite cool and cloudy conditions we arrived in Fremantle to glorious sunshine........but fortunately the 40+C temperatures we had been seeing on the news in Fremantle had passed and it was low 30+C with quite a breeze which made it OK for getting about.

We set off after breakfast with no real plans of what we should do.... for a change..... but when we found some free cycles to use all other plans were abandoned although the pedal bikes were VERY BASIC with no gears and a back pedal brake! We set off south down the coast against the wind along a cycle track...walking up amost inclines!... but it was quite interesting and the cycle track went on for ever. We stopped after cycling for about 90 minutes and arriving in South Fremantle where they are building a new estate with each house having its own private berth for a yatch!.... How the other half will eventually be living! As we walked round the empty marina a dolphin swam past us in typical undulating fashion. After watching it for a while we cycled back. It took us 30 mins to get back to to the cycle hire place with a tail wind!

After this we returned to the ship for a late lunch and rested in our cabin during the main heat of the day we went out again to walk round Fremantle marina itself. It was lovely temperature and we had lovely views back to our ship in the golden evening sun as we walked to the lighthouse at the harbour mouth.
