Jan 25, 2016 Basseterre, St Kitts
Eddie & Jan, along with Marilyn & I walked off the ship into a barrage of taxi and tour drivers who bombarded us with invitations to take a tour of the Island.
We finally opted for a two hour tour for $20 per person.
The tour was in an old, dilapidated, open air, truck, but the tour group we were with filled the bus and we were offered free drinks throughout the tour. The free Rum Punch only happened once but we were having fun and enjoying the tour.
The roads are very narrow, blacktop, with potholes, and it is definitely exciting when we meet another vehicle coming the other way.
We were cruising along peacefully, looking at the passing scenery, when BAM!!!!!!!
The left front tire on our poor old bus blew out with a very loud Bang, like a gunshot.
I have pictures of all of us standing beside the road but the pictures must wait until we are back home.
A cell phone call from our driver caused a relief vehicle to be dispatched to our rescue. It took a while but the ice cold beer offered, helped to ease the pain. LOL
Our two hour tour turned in to a four hour tour but we were back at the ship in plenty of time for departure.
In the evening, the four of us gathered at the site of our meal for the evening. We had made reservations for the Crown Grill Seafood and Steak house.
This meal was certainly worth the $25 per person cover charge.
The food, from the pan seared scallops, to the French onion soup infused with Jack Daniels and Bleu Cheese, the awesome 16 oz Bone in Rib Eye steak, lamb chops, salad, and dessert, were simply fantastic.
This was a wonderful way to end the day which began with a Bang so to speak.
What a fun and interesting day!
