We spent the second day in Death Valley today. Our first stop was Badwater Basin. It is the lowest point in North America and is a surreal landscape of vast salt flats. It is 282 feet below sea level. Next stop the Natural Bridge. Then the Devils Golf Course.Crystallized salts composed the jagged formations. On to Artists Drive -a scenic loop drive through multi-hued volcanic and sedimentary rock. The highlight is Artists Palette-a multicolored hillside of red, browns, greens and yellows, all the result of the oxidation or alteration of minerals in the sediment. We finished the day at Dantes View for an overlook of the valley and the sunset. Death Valley is truly a magical place.
