|I once heard of a husband who loved to go shopping with his wife.
I don’t know if that is a truth or maybe simply a vicious rumor spread by evil wives across the country, in a feeble effort to make us husbands feel guilty about something.
While on a cruise to Belize, Honduras, and Cozumel last year, I saw a sign pointing to a Bar in a shopping area. The Bar was called the “Husband’s Day Care Center”. It had sports on TV, lots of free snacks, and ice cold beer on tap.
“Bye Honey, Have a nice time”. Let the shopping begin! “We’ll be right here waiting anxiously for you to return.”
Today I had promised to take Marilyn shopping for some new clothing.
We began the day by sharing breakfast with good friends, Eddie & Jan, at Diaz Diner. That was the end of my fun for a while.
We shopped at Kohl’s and I became very frustrated which was directly proportional to my lack of enjoyment of the experience.
Next, we drove to Sam’s where the wall to wall crowds and long lines at the checkout registers were an indicator of the amount of fun to be found there.
Thankfully, just in the nick of time, we found our way out and back to the car, and I was ready to head for home.
That was not to be, as my dear sweet wife announced that she needed a loaf of bread and Walmart was just across the street. I waited in the car.
She must have enjoyed herself without me, as she took her time and found some new clothing items along with the loaf of bread.
Don’t even ask!
It was in the early afternoon when we arrived back at the RV and I could immerse myself once again in the life of the retired, full time RV person, spending winter in the warmth of the Rio Grande Valley.
It’s time for a cold drink on the patio, sitting under the palm trees.
Life is Good!
