Church, Lunch, and Football

|We were up in time to have our coffee before getting ready to head off to Mass at the Basilica.
It was a beautiful morning with clear blue sky but cool temperatures here in the Valley. Actually that is not a complaint on my part because we are so much warmer than most of the nation and have enjoyed wonderful weather for most of this entire winter season so far.
We drove to the resort next door to pick up Steve & Cathy, who rode with us to San Juan.
Mass was beautiful with the awesome Christmas decorations still up in the Basilica, and the Mariachi group playing and singing.
After Mass we all walked over to the Gift Shop where we strolled around selecting a couple of items for the Grandkids.
We explored several back roads on the way back to the resort, showing Steve several options for driving between San Juan and Mission.
We made a decision to stop at the Riverside Club, for some lunch, on the north bank of the Rio Grande River. The breaded pork tenderloin sandwiches are huge and delicious, just like they make back in Missouri and Iowa.
After lunch it was time to head home for the start of the NFL Playoff games on TV.
Of course I am pulling for the Kansas City Chiefs and hope that fact doesn’t put a hex on them. LOL
Marilyn fixed a great batch of Charro Beans with lots of ham in them, and some freshly baked cornbread as a side dish.
I slipped outdoors at half-time to complete a couple of chores. Now we are ready for tomorrow.
