A Swimmingly Fine Day
Dec 26, 2015
|The kids arrived right on time last night and the ride back to our resort was accompanied by constant chatter and conversation.
We had sandwiches for everyone and then more snacks once we arrived at home.
Jennifer unpacked the suitcases and we stored the empty bags in the truck before beginning the Christmas unwrapping of the gifts.
Much chaos and glee followed that, and it was around 11:00 PM when bedtime seemed to call every one of us.
Jennifer and Colby slept in the Casita, while Marilyn and Lauren slept in the Hide-a-bed in the RV and I had the entire King bed to myself.
This morning, I was up before daylight and made a run to the store to grab some bread, butter and sweet rolls to bake in the oven.
After we all shared breakfast we decided to postpone the trip to Padre Island and just spend the day here at the resort.
Colby and I played catch with the football and then the entire group walked across the street to the pool. We saw our friends, Mike & Marian, and chatted for a few minutes before they had to leave.
The kids sure enjoyed swimming in the heated pool, while the rest of us played in the water, alternating back & forth from the hot tub to the heated pool, and the lounge chairs beside the pool. The temperature nearly reached 90 again today so that swimming pool felt really nice.
Around noon, we walked over to Greg & Barb’s where our friends were kind enough to give Jennifer and the kids a tour of their beautiful Casita.
Greg & Barb then joined us for lunch at Riverside.
Before we drove back to the resort we went to the resort boat dock to see if we could find the alligators, but they were not visible, or at least not obvious to us.
We drove through Bentsen Palms Village resort, which is right next door, and saw Cathy sitting beside the pool with some other friends, so we stopped to visit for a couple of minutes.
As soon as we arrived back at the RV, the grandkids, Jennifer, and Marilyn put their swim suits on again and returned to the pool.
I stayed behind to finish cooking a large container of Lasagna, which was a Christmas gift from Steve & Cathy. That will be our dinner tonight.
After dinner we plan to drive over to Hidalgo for the “Three Miles of Lights” Christmas display.
Yep, Life is Good!
