As we had to drive through Houston, and wanted to be through early, we left just before 8 am. Jim and Karen came over to say good-bye. There were no issues with the trip, and only a brief construction issue on the west side of Houston. Sunday morning seems to be the best time to travel through a large city – we went right through the downtown interstate – 6 lanes wide and we had our pick of the lanes. I’m sure that will not be the situation there tomorrow morning!
We found rest areas when we needed them, including a brand new Pilot – the apps we have allow for good searching. However, since we were not driving on interstate after leaving Houston, several of the apps were no longer functional. We have driven so much on interstates that we are used to exit numbers, which we have lost as well!
We arrived at Lagoons just after 1 pm – it was good to get in and set up. We are in the pull-through section, so there is not a lot of room between coaches, but we don’t plan on spending a lot of time here! Ken and Barb came by just as we were set up – it was so good to see them. When we completed our set-up, we went down to visit Ron and Nancy – it was great to catch up with them as well.
I started the long-awaited cleaning when we returned. Not only did we not have the opportunity to really clean the rig when we were home, as it was parked at the storage lot and it was cold and rainy most of the time, but there was also a month of road grime on everything. Soooooooo, I at least got the downstairs done except for the floor, and a start on the upstairs. Tomorrow we’ll do laundry and we’ll finish.
We sat outdoors for some time and then came in for dinner, which was chicken enchiladas and buttered peas. We also set up our little Charlie Brown Christmas tree, but realized we did not have an extension cord – another thing added to the list for tomorrow! It is good to be in one place for a while and rest!
